“Who does the Lord think we are?” they ask.“Why does he speak to us like this?Are we little children,just recently weaned?10He tells us everything over and over—one line at a time,one line at a time,

So now God will have to speak to his peoplethrough foreign oppressors who speak a strange language!12God has told his people,“Here is a place of rest;let the weary rest here.This is a place of quiet rest.”But they would not listen.13So the Lord will spell out his message for them again,one line at a time,one line at a time,

The coming destruction can never touch us,for we have built a strong refuge made of lies and deception.”

And so the Lord says,“These people say they are mine.They honor me with their lips,but their hearts are far from me.And their worship of meis nothing but man-made rules learned by rote.29:13 Greek version reads Their worship is a farce, / for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God. Compare Mark 7:7.14Because of this, I will once again astound these hypocriteswith amazing wonders.The wisdom of the wise will pass away,and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.”

Lord God my Father,

Keep me from my arrogant way and live under your authority. Keep my thoughts and actions focused on you and protect me from my desire to control and allow you to have your way.

 the Lord still loves Israel, even though the people have turned to other gods and love to worship them.

Since you have forgotten the laws of your God,I will forget to bless your children.

But like Adam, you broke my covenant and betrayed my trust.

I wanted to redeem them, but they have told lies about me.14They do not cry out to me with sincere hearts. Instead, they sit on their couches and wail.

Lord God my Father,

Straighten my heart and restore it to worship only you. Draw me close and bless my actions and cause me to desire pleasing you only. Protect me from deceit.

Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before or after his time. 6He remained faithful to the Lord in everything,

At the same time, God’s hand was on the people in the land of Judah, giving them all one heart to obey the orders of the king and his officials, who were following the word of the Lord.

And the Lord listened to Hezekiah’s prayer and healed the people.

Hezekiah sought his God wholeheartedly. As a result, he was very successful.

Lord God my Father,

I do trust you, protect my trust from any doubt and allow your truth and peace to rest on me as you desire. Hear my prayer and bring honor to yourself thru our relationship. May all things I do bring delight to you and me.

Who has brought this disaster on Tyre, that great creator of kingdoms? Her traders were all princes, her merchants were nobles.9The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has done it to destroy your pride and bring low all earth’s nobility.

In the night I search for you; in the morning26:9 Hebrew within me. I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.10Your kindness to the wicked does not make them do good. Although others do right, the wicked keep doing wrong and take no notice of the Lord’s majesty.

Lord God my Father,

Judge me and convict my heart. Make me aware of the compromise I allow in your plan. I search for you but have to sift thru the deceit around me. Thank you for your peace that guides me.

When the people cry to the Lord for help against those who oppress them, he will send them a savior who will rescue them.

But you never ask for help from the One who did all this. You never considered the One who planned this long ago.

Lord God my Father,

I lift my voice and cry out to you to heal this nation. Soften the hearts of your people and bring us back under your authority. We need you and worship you. Your plan is perfect, and our trust is in you.

For the Lord has crushed your wicked power and broken your evil rule.6You struck the people with endless blows of rage and held the nations in your angry grip with unrelenting tyranny.7But finally the earth is at rest and quiet. Now it can sing again!

In the evening Israel waits in terror, but by dawn its enemies are dead. This is the just reward of those who plunder us, a fitting end for those who destroy us.

Lord God my Father,

Purify your people, open our eyes to see the deceit around us and turn towards your Truth and Peace. Soften the hearts of your people to desire your peace over the fear being poured out around us.

But as for me, I am filled with power—with the Spirit of the Lord. I am filled with justice and strength to boldly declare Israel’s sin and rebellion.

Though the nations around us follow their idols, we will follow the Lord our God forever and ever.

Lord God my Father,

Help me to fine your quiet voice in my noisy thought. Bring your truth on to me and bring your peace to rest on me to protect me from deceit.

“We cannot afford to add to our sins and guilt. Our guilt is already great, and the Lord’s fierce anger is already turned against Israel.”

This disaster came upon the people of Israel because they worshiped other gods. They sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them safely out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. 8They had followed the practices of the pagan nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of them, as well as the practices the kings of Israel had introduced.

Again and again the Lord had sent his prophets and seers to warn both Israel and Judah: “Turn from all your evil ways. 

You must worship only the Lord your God. He is the one who will rescue you from all your enemies.”

Lord God my Father,

Protect my thoughts and keep darkness from them. Give me wisdom to know when desires not from you creep into my thoughts and keep me heading in your direction. I wish to only have you as my God.

King Jotham became powerful because he was careful to live in obedience to the Lord his God.

Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things.Make known his praise around the world.6Let all the people of Jerusalem12:6 Hebrew Zion. shout his praise with joy!For great is the Holy One of Israel who lives among you.”

Lord God my Father,

Keep me close and aware of the deceiver. I will keep my eyes on you and allow you to lead me. Your plan is perfect, soften my heart so it desires your purpose for me.

When the Lord gives the command, homes both great and small will be smashed to pieces.

But that’s how foolish you are when you turn justice into poison and the sweet fruit of righteousness into bitterness.

And the Lord replied, “I will test my people with this plumb line. I will no longer ignore all their sins. 

Lord God my Father,

You are in control of all things, keep me in your desire so I may enhance your desire and not fall from it. Keep me straight on your path.
