But the people grew impatient on the way; 5they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”

Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. 7The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

But Sihon would not let Israel pass through his territory. He mustered his entire army and marched out into the wilderness against Israel. When he reached Jahaz, he fought with Israel. 24Israel, however, put him to the sword and took over his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, but only as far as the Ammonites,

So they struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army, leaving them no survivors. And they took possession of his land.

“Even if Balak gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God.

That night God came to Balaam and said, “Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”

Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the Moabite officials. 22But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the Lord stood in the road to oppose him.

Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?”

The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”

“No,” he said.

31Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.

The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If it had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared it.”

34Balaam said to the angel of the Lord, “I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.”

Lord God my Father,

Your plan is perfect and designed for me, help me to follow your design without my opinion so I may experience your best. As you guide me, keep me from questioning your ability by trying to understand. You are beyond understanding and all things good. Open my mind to experience more than I can understand so your Glory is with me. Keep me from beating the donkey that is protecting me and trust you are working with it. When you open his mouth and he talks to me, keep me from arguing with it and just realize you are using him for my good.

Strength and Wisdom

They quarreled with Moses and said, “If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the Lord! 4Why did you bring the Lord’s community into this wilderness, that we and our livestock should die here? 5Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!”

Our ancestors went down into Egypt, and we lived there many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our ancestors, 16but when we cried out to the Lord, he heard our cry and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt.

Lord God my Father,

You are all knowing and all powerful, help me to trust in your plan without question. Give me a confidence in my faith that protects me from asking what you are up to and just follow. Bring the lessons of my past struggles to my understanding so I may see the strength and wisdom intended for me.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Accept

It is against the Lord that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble against him?”

Lord God my Father,

Your plan is perfect, keep me from questioning what you are up to and just accept your plan without question.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

I know.

Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?”

And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them?

But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.

You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes.

Lord God my Father,

Your Glory is overwhelming and delightful. Help my focus to always be on you and keep me from doubt, with you all things are possible. When you want me to do something hard, you will provide the solution, keep me from doubt. Give me that different spirit that knows you are involved in all things, so the best is at hand. Help me to have a spirit that constantly knows you are with me.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Content Trust

Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger was aroused.

We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

“Is the Lord’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true for you.”

So Moses cried out to the Lord, “Please, God, heal her!”

, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”

Lord God my Father,

You are provider and sustainer, help me to be content with what you provide and not be selfish for more. Help me to see the abundance of your provisions and praise you with it all. Keep me from whining and complaining, keep me in a state of worship in all occasions. Help me to completely trust you and your plan.

Quiet so I can hear

Numbers 7

These were the offerings of the Israelite leaders for the dedication of the altar when it was anointed: twelve silver plates, twelve silver sprinkling bowls and twelve gold dishes. 85Each silver plate weighed a hundred and thirty shekels, and each sprinkling bowl seventy shekels. Altogether, the silver dishes weighed two thousand four hundred shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel. 86The twelve gold dishes filled with incense weighed ten shekels each, according to the sanctuary shekel. Altogether, the gold dishes weighed a hundred and twenty shekels. 87The total number of animals for the burnt offering came to twelve young bulls, twelve rams and twelve male lambs a year old, together with their grain offering. Twelve male goats were used for the sin offering. 88The total number of animals for the sacrifice of the fellowship offering came to twenty-four oxen, sixty rams, sixty male goats and sixty male lambs a year old. These were the offerings for the dedication of the altar after it was anointed.

Lord God my Father,

Your desire is perfect and you make it clear. Give me the patience needed to allow your Peace to rest on me and remove my desire to think so I may hear you from your desire.

In Jesus name I pray,

To be His.

“ ‘I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid.

“ ‘If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve.

“ ‘But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors—their unfaithfulness and their hostility toward me, 41which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, 42I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

Lord God my Father,

You are all mighty and all knowing and all things are yours. I wish to follow your way completely and reject my sinful desires. Protect me and give me your strength and wisdom to do your will in this world.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

To be more Holy

‘Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible; 16anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death.

Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the Lord commanded Moses.

Lord God my Father,

You are holy and all knowing. Show me the areas that do not serve you that lives in me so I may surrender it to your care. Help me to allow your holy way to rest on me and restore me.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

One focus

“ ‘The priests are to perform my service in such a way that they do not become guilty and die for treating it with contempt. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.

Do not offer to the Lord the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as a food offering presented to the Lord.

Lord God my Father,

You are Holy and perfect. Keep my close and protect my thoughts so I am with you in all thoughts and actions. Help me to live a life that honors you in all areas. Give me focus and strength to overcome my compromised ways so I am able to give you my best in all things.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Restored

“ ‘Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the Lord.’ ”

‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death.

Lord God my Father,

You are Holy and perfect, help me to know your way and give me strength to remove the compromise I allow in my faith and life. Show me how to restore myself to who you made to be and away of who I decided to be, so I may experience all the fullness of this life.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen
