But the officials of Sukkoth said, “Do you already have the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna in your possession? Why should we give bread to your troops?”

7Then Gideon replied, “Just for that, when the Lord has given Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, I will tear your flesh with desert thorns and briers.”

8From there he went up to Peniel and made the same request of them, but they answered as the men of Sukkoth had. 9So he said to the men of Peniel, “When I return in triumph, I will tear down this tower.”

The Israelites said to Gideon, “Rule over us—you, your son and your grandson—because you have saved us from the hand of Midian.”

23But Gideon told them, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you.” 

No sooner had Gideon died than the Israelites again prostituted themselves to the Baals.

Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimelek had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers. 57God also made the people of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them.

Lord God my Father,

Your Love, Grace and perfect plan delights my spirit. Help me to follow your way so I may represent you well. Reveal all the false gods I may carry so they can be completely destroyed. Cause me to live in your desire and release your way in me. Protect me from my sin nature.

Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the Lord for help.

“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

16The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”

So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace.

Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.”

Lord God my Father,

Your way is perfect and Holy, keep me from looking away. My faith is in you but my trust sometimes has question. Allow your Peace to quiet my thoughts so I can accept your Truth and believe. You are always with me, allow that Truth to be my strength.

The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs. 

So the land had peace for forty years, until Othniel son of Kenaz died.

12Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and because they did this evil the Lord gave Eglon king of Moab power over Israel.

“So may all your enemies perish, Lord!

But may all who love you be like the sun

when it rises in its strength.”

Then the land had peace forty years.

Lord God my Father,

You are Holy and worthy of all praise. Keep me near and overwhelm my evil way with your Perfect and Holy spirit. Cause me to turn away from my desires and allow your desire for me to fill me completely. My strength is evil, yours is perfect, I surrender all I am so you may have your way with me.

In Jesus name I pray,

Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders. 17Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. They quickly turned from the ways of their ancestors, who had been obedient to the Lord’s commands. 1

Lord God my Father,

Your way is Holy and perfect. Protect me from my evil nature and give me strength to keep my focus on your perfect and Holy way. Place people around me that give me strength and guidance to only follow your desire that causes me to thrive and not do evil.

In Jesus name I pray,

But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

“Be very strong; be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the right or to the left.

 We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.”

Lord God my Father,

Your design is perfect and brings amazing Peace. Help me to keep all my focus on you and not allow darkness to enter my thoughts. Keep me from allowing frustration to take your Peace from me so I may thrive as you designed it.

Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

Lord God my Father,

You are creator and sustainer and your way is perfect. Keep me from pursuing my own version of your design and have a heart that only desires to follow your way.

In Jesus name I pray,

 though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.”

Lord God my Father,

You are provider and protector. Help me to trust in your power above my own understanding. Keep doubt in your ability to do anything, out of my thoughts. Give me the faith I need to allow you to move the mountains before me.

In Jesus name I pray,

So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’

Lord God my Father,

Your way is perfect, give me confidence to follow you without doubt, help me to not only believe but to trust in that belief so your way is my only option.

The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord. 

“We have given them our oath by the Lord, the God of Israel, and we cannot touch them now.

So we feared for our lives because of you, and that is why we did this. 25We are now in your hands. Do to us whatever seems good and right to you.”

The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”

As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.

All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.

Lord God my Father,

You are all knowing and your plan is perfect and holy. Help me to know your will before I move so I may follow you in all things I do. Remind me to ask you before I make plan for your guidance, help me to bring all to you I meet with my way. Cause me to trust you above all else so your outcome is met.

 “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! 17The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the Lord. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent. 

So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.

Pardon your servant, Lord. What can I say, now that Israel has been routed by its enemies? 

Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. 12That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; 

There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children, and the foreigners who lived among them.

Lord God my Father,

You are all powerful and all knowing. Help me to follow you without hesitation or question. Your plan is perfect and I am unable to understand so much of your design. Help me to trust and obey with my whole heart. Protect me from deceit so I may only know you.
