Blind Faith

When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” 18So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.

“Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. 25He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.”

And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.

Lord God my Father,

Your way is beyond my understanding, help me to have faith, real faith to follow your plan and see your glory released. Keep me from complaining about what I see as an obstacle for if I move through it I will see your outcome. Lead me and show me how to follow you with trust.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

No questions.

“Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you—so that my wonders may be multiplied in Egypt.”

I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.

Lord God my Father,

Your design is perfect and beyond my understanding. Help me to be obedient without question. Keep me moving forward in your plan and bless my efforts with your power. Make me know you and not question your plan.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Forward

For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. 16But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. 21But those who ignored the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the field.

Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. “This time I have sinned,” he said to them. “The Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.

When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts. 35So Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the Lord had said through Moses.

Lord God my Father,

Your are all powerful and nothing is beyond your control. I am so grateful for your Grace that saves me. Give me strength over my sinful tendency to not be obedient to your plan. Help me to do what I should on your time, not mine. Soften my heart and release the chains that hold me back. Cause me to thrive and multiply my abilities to serve you. Keep me moving forward without looking back.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Usable

Pharaoh said, “Lazy, that’s what you are—lazy! That is why you keep saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’ 18Now get to work. You will not be given any straw, yet you must produce your full quota of bricks.”

Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me?

Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor.

Lord God my Father,

You know all things, help me to follow your plan especially when it doesn’t make sense. Help me to look past the struggle to the amazing delivery from it. Keep me from hardening my heart to your way.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

No questions

So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. 21And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.

But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

12And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”

Lord God my Father,

Your way is greater than understanding, help me to be obedient to it. Keep me from questioning how, and just move forward trusting in your ability alone.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Unconditional Trust

But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.

Lord God my Father,

Your plan is perfect and beyond my understanding. Help me to be at peace with your desire burning within me and obedient in doing your will. Keep my thoughts still and your understanding close so I may know it. Keep fear and question at bay so I may live by your design and experience your confidence. Help me to trust you without question.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Obedient

“I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.

“So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.

Then he sent his brothers away, and as they were leaving he said to them, “Don’t quarrel on the way!”

They told him, “Joseph is still alive! In fact, he is ruler of all Egypt.” Jacob was stunned; he did not believe them.

Lord God my Father,

You are all knowing and your plan is perfect. Help me to be obedient without the desire to understand so I don’t stray from your path. Give me wisdom based on your Peace so I may have your strength and courage. Help me to trust you completely.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Possible

Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “Today I am reminded of my shortcomings.

“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.”

“Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”

And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.

Lord God my Father,

With you, all things are possible. Keep my thoughts close to you and protect them from my desires. Allow only your desire to rest in my heart and give me direction that releases your Glory. Allow your confidence to flush out any doubt and keep me in motion, fully trusting in your plan.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Peaceful path

Judah recognized them and said, “She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn’t give her to my son Shelah.”

“This is how your slave treated me,” he burned with anger.

But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.

Lord God my Father,’

Help me to not allow fear to be my guide and keep me safe from the attacks on me this day. Be with me and restore me to the plan you have for me and be my strength.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Why understand

Come, let’s sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; after all, he is our brother, our own flesh and blood.” His brothers agreed.

the Midianites sold Joseph in Egypt to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard.

Lord God my Father,

Your design is without flaw, help me to follow it even when I don’t understand.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen
