Sabbath

You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the Lord.

Lord God my Father,

Bring me closer to living as you designed it. Cause me to give you a sabbath day each week to be restored.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Action

Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it aloud to the people. Again they all responded, “We will do everything the Lord has commanded. We will obey.”

Lord God my Father,

Help me to have a heart that not only wants to do your will bay actually does it.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Tempered

“for God has come in this way to test you, and so that your fear of him will keep you from sinning!”

Lord God my Father,

Test me as you will and guide me as I need. Keep me from sin and heal my brokenness so I may be stronger than ever before.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Understanding

I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions.

But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them.

Tomorrow will be a day of complete rest, a holy Sabbath day set apart for the Lord.

The Lord asked Moses, “How long will these people refuse to obey my commands and instructions?

So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on.

Lord God my Father,

Help me to embrace your test and not flee from it. Allow your strength and purpose to overwhelm my desire to understand and keep me close. Help me to trust and rest with you. Keep me focused on what you wish me to learn and not in my own understanding.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Trust

The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night.

I have planned this in order to display my glory through Pharaoh and his whole army. After this the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord!” So the Israelites camped there as they were told.

‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’”

The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

Lord God my Father,

Guide me and keep me close. Protect my thoughts and bring your peace to overwhelm my struggles. Help me to not focus on the struggle, but to look for the growth you want me to experience. Help me to trust in your desire to fight for me. Allow me to rest.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Bondage

But Pharaoh shouted, “You’re just lazy! Lazy! That’s why you’re saying, ‘Let us go and offer sacrifices to the Lord.’

“Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the Lord. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt.

So Moses told the people of Israel what the Lord had said, but they refused to listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the brutality of their slavery.

Lord God my Father,

Keep me close and allow your Truth to comfort me. Free me from the bondage I feel that is a lie and open my heart to believe in your plan, a plan I am unable to understand. Help me to feel your hope and love.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

His Plan

I have made him and his officials stubborn10:1 Hebrew have made his heart and his officials’ hearts heavy. so I can display my miraculous signs among them. 2I’ve also done it so you can tell your children and grandchildren about how I made a mockery of the Egyptians and about the signs I displayed among them—and so you will know that I am the Lord.”

Let the men go to worship the Lord their God! Don’t you realize that Egypt lies in ruins?”

Lord God my Father,

Help me to do your will when I don’t understand what your plan is. Help me to trust you in all things and allow your glory to expose itself the way you will.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Willing

But the more the Egyptians oppressed them, the more the Israelites multiplied and spread, and the more alarmed the Egyptians became.

And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.

“Here I am!” Moses replied.

But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”

12God answered, “I will be with you.

But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?”

But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”

But Moses again pleaded, “Lord, please! Send anyone else.”

14Then the Lord became angry with Moses. “All right,” he said. “What about your brother,

Lord God my Father,

Help me to rest in your plan, even when it seems like the struggle is in control. Help me to be still so I can hear you call me. Keep me from questioning your desire or shape it to fit me. Help me to understand that you are with me and you will direct me and give me words. Give me a spirit of obedience.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen
