“I, the Lord, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness.I will take you by the hand and guard you,

Lord God my Father,

Open me up and make me pure in my thoughts and lead me to your desire.

Yes, this anguish was good for me,for you have rescued me from deathand forgiven all my sins.18For the dead cannot praise you;they cannot raise their voices in praise.

Think of it—the Lord is ready to heal me!I will sing his praises with instrumentsevery day of my lifein the Temple of the Lord.

Lord God my Father,

Thank you for this life as it is not as I would have liked it. Your plan has brought me strength over the struggles and kept me humble. Lord God, point out areas I still struggle for control in and surrender it all to your care. May I pass your will thru me and not battle for control.

The priests and prophets stagger with alcoholand lose themselves in wine.They reel when they see visionsand stagger as they render decisions.8Their tables are covered with vomit;filth is everywhere.9“Who does the Lord think we are?” they ask.“Why does he speak to us like this?Are we little children,just recently weaned?

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher,and he gives the farmer great wisdom.

He will surely respond to the sound of your cries.

Lord God my Father,

I struggle, I struggle to simply follow you. When conflict happens I jump to control it. Help me to rest in your control and follow you thru the struggle instead of making my own way. Give me your wisdom and direction.

How prosperous Israel is—a luxuriant vine loaded with fruit.But the richer the people get,the more pagan altars they build.The more bountiful their harvests,the more beautiful their sacred pillars.

For my people are determined to desert me.They call me the Most High,but they don’t truly honor me.

O Israel, stay away from idols!I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you.I am like a tree that is always green;all your fruit comes from me.”9Let those who are wise understand these things.Let those with discernment listen carefully.

Lord God my Father,

May I please you in all I do, may I live in your blessing. I wish to honor you in all things, especially in my struggles. Protect me in hard times from a bitter attitude. May I truly understand the control you have and the lack of control I have.

He will rule with mercy and truth.He will always do what is justand be eager to do what is right.

Lord God my Father,

Give me the heart of your warrior, use me to spread your truth, your love, your way to those close to me as well as the others.

King Jotham became powerful because he was careful to live in obedience to the Lord his God.

After the Lord has used the king of Assyria to accomplish his purposes on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, he will turn against the king of Assyria and punish him—for he is proud and arrogant.

Lord God my Father,

Open my eyes to your way to the point I am only in your will. Protect me from the great deceiver and allow me to live in your Truth alone.

What sorrow for those who saythat evil is good and good is evil,that dark is light and light is dark,that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.21What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyesand think themselves so clever.

Unless your faith is firm,I cannot make you stand firm.”

The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. 

Lord God my Father,

I am an idiot on my own, be with me, guide me this day so I may shine of your light. Protect my thoughts and actions, separate me from the dark ways of this world.

If you will only obey me,you will have plenty to eat.

I will melt you down and skim off your slag.I will remove all your impurities.26Then I will give you good judges againand wise counselors like you used to have.

Lord God my Father,

I want to obey you wholeheartedly, I want to honor you in all things but I struggle, I struggle to surrender everything. Surrendering the big stuff is easy, expose to me the areas I wrestle for control in my life and give me strength to overcome them.

Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but not wholeheartedly.

Lord God my Father,

Open my eyes and heart so I may only desire you and your path for me.

So the priests agreed not to accept any more money from the people, and they also agreed to let others take responsibility for repairing the Temple.

Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, “This is what God says: Why do you disobey the Lord’s commands and keep yourselves from prospering? You have abandoned the Lord, and now he has abandoned you!”

Lord God my Father,

May I get my life in line with your plan, may I obey your order for my life.
