“You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies

23But on the way to Naioth in Ramah the Spirit of God came even upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy all the way to Naioth! 24He tore off his clothes and lay naked on the ground all day and all night, prophesying in the presence of Samuel. The people who were watching exclaimed, “What? Is even Saul a prophet?”

Lord God my Father,

Come upon me in your powerful way and restore me to your desire for me. Protect me from distraction and may I bring you glory this day.

And the Lord sent you on a mission and told you, ‘Go and completely destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, until they are all dead.’ 19Why haven’t you obeyed the Lord? Why did you rush for the plunder and do what was evil in the Lord’s sight?”

“What is more pleasing to the Lord:your burnt offerings and sacrificesor your obedience to his voice?

The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Lord God my Father,

Make my heart hard from distraction, I wish to only pursue you mission, help me to see as you see and have a faith filled with your courage.

“Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!”7“Do what you think is best,” the armor bearer replied. “I’m with you completely, whatever you decide.”

Lord God my Father,

Remove my desire and replace it with your truth. May I use your wisdom in all my actions and slay the enemy within so I can be at peace in all things.

 Meanwhile, Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord.

But Eli’s sons wouldn’t listen to their father, for the Lord was already planning to put them to death.

Lord God my Father,

Keep me close, Hold my spirit in your hands and keep me close so I may seek you in all things.

“Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.

Lord God my Father,

Bless me with ability and help me expand your blessing in all that you have given me. Keep my heart under your guidance and my spirit humble.

 And as it happened, she found herself working in a field that belonged to Boaz, the relative of her father-in-law,

But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. 17Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”

Lord God my Father,

May I just happen to be in your desire today, Give me a heart that longs to be with you in all things.

So the men of Benjamin did as they were told. Each man caught one of the women as she danced in the celebration and carried her off to be his wife

Lord God my Father,

Help me to follow you especially when I don’t understand your way. Give me a surrendered heart that is obedient to you only.

The Lord replied, “Did I not rescue you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, 12the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites? When they oppressed you, you cried out to me for help, and I rescued you. 13Yet you have abandoned me and served other gods. So I will not rescue you anymore. 14Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen! Let them rescue you in your hour of distress!”

In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.

Lord God my Father,

I place my life with you and trust you to lead me to freedom. Rescue me from my past and allow me to live for today with your plan on my heart. Protect your interest in me.

So it has become a custom in Israel 40for young Israelite women to go away for four days each year to lament the fate of Jephthah’s daughter.

Then Manoah prayed to the Lord, saying, “Lord, please let the man of God come back to us again and give us more instructions about this son who is to be born.”

But his wife said, “If the Lord were going to kill us, he wouldn’t have accepted our burnt offering and grain offering. He wouldn’t have appeared to us and told us this wonderful thing and done these miracles.”

But Samson told his father, “Get her for me! She looks good to me.” 4His father and mother didn’t realize the Lord was at work in this, creating an opportunity to work against the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.

Lord God my Father,

May I commit to follow you without reservation, trusting your plan even when I can’t understand it. Help me to come together with my wife and become a team together for your glory. Soften my heart so all decisions come from you.

“You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. 

Lord God my Father,

Keep me close and open my heart to your will and desire for me. Give me victory over the enemy and protect me in your power.
