In Solomon’s old age, they turned his heart to worship other gods instead of being completely faithful to the Lord his God, as his father, David, had been.
He had warned Solomon specifically about worshiping other gods, but Solomon did not listen to the Lord’s command.
It is better to be a poor but wise youth than an old and foolish king who refuses all advice.
Lord God my Father,
Protect me from wondering, keep me close. Give me discernment of when I may take my eyes off of you, give me power to follow your wisdom alone.

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.
Spouting off before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish.

Give me your heart, allow me to follow your lead without distraction. Keep me in your peace and filled with your motivation. Quiet my thoughts to hear only you.

Upright citizens are good for a city and make it prosper,but the talk of the wicked tears it apart.
Without wise leadership, a nation falls;there is safety in having many advisers.
Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
Lord God my Father,
Keep me under your authority, protect me from distraction. Surround me with good godly people and direct my actions. May your discipline bring me closer to you.
