Then Jehoahaz prayed for the Lord’s help, and the Lord heard his prayer,

But they continued to sin, following the evil example of Jeroboam.

Lord God my Father,

Help me in this day to first ask for your desire and will. Give me strength and focus to do our will without delay and protect me from procrastination.

In Jesus name I pray,

 Jehoiada the priest decided to act. He summoned his courage and made a pact with five army commanders: 

All his life Joash did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight because Jehoiada the priest instructed him. 3Yet even so, he did not destroy the pagan shrines, and the people still offered sacrifices and burned incense there.

“Why haven’t you repaired the Temple? Don’t use any more money for your own needs. From now on, it must all be spent on Temple repairs.” 8So the priests agreed not to accept any more money from the people, and they also agreed to let others take responsibility for repairing the Temple.

They restored the Temple of God according to its original design and strengthened it.

But after Jehoiada’s death, the leaders of Judah came and bowed before King Joash and persuaded him to listen to their advice. 18They decided to abandon the Temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors,

, “This is what God says: Why do you disobey the Lord’s commands and keep yourselves from prospering? You have abandoned the Lord, and now he has abandoned you!”

Lord God my Father,

Give me courage to do your will in the darkness, I wish to only act in a way that is pleasing to you. Give me a strength and determination to only do your will and move away from my own. I want all my efforts to glorify you. Lord God, give discernment to your people and keep us on the path of your desire and expose the darkness for what it is so we may prosper.

Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. No one was sorry when he died.

 But Jehu’s cunning plan was to destroy all the worshipers of Baal.

In this way, Jehu destroyed every trace of Baal worship from Israel.

Lord God my Father,

Keep me from breaking your heart, help me to find and kill all my sin nature. Restore me to your design and move me from my desires. Help me to destroy every idle in my life.

But Naaman became angry and stalked away. “I thought he would certainly come out to meet me!” he said. “I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and call on the name of the Lord his God and heal me!

Lord God my Father,

Help me to follow your plan when I don’t understand it. Keep me from “fixing” your strategy.

In Jesus name I pray,

“As surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you!” 

And Elisha replied, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.”

“No,” Elisha said, “don’t send them.” 17But they kept urging him until they shamed him into agreeing, and he finally said, “All right, send them.”

But she said, “It will be all right.”

But the boy’s mother said, “As surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I won’t go home unless you go with me.” So Elisha returned with her.

And when they gave it to the people, there was plenty for all and some left over, just as the Lord had promised.

Lord God my Father,

Help me to keep my attention on you in all things. Let me do your will better every day. Protect me from the pressures that try to distract me and trust in your plan completely. Give me the courage I need to stay in your will and allow you to multiply the blessings by not doubting your ability.

“If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and destroy you and your fifty men!” And again the fire of God fell from heaven and killed them all.

While the harp was being played, the power3:15 Hebrew the hand. of the Lord came upon Elisha, 

During his reign, however, he failed to remove all the pagan shrines, and the people never fully committed themselves to follow the God of their ancestors.

Lord God my Father,

Let me live as you desire and guide and protect my thoughts. May your power be my power and my so-called power be still. Help me to remove the compromise from my desires.

“Look, all the prophets are promising victory for the king. Be sure that you agree with them and promise success.”

14But Micaiah replied, “As surely as the Lord lives, I will say only what the Lord tells me to say.”

“And the spirit replied, ‘I will go out and inspire all of Ahab’s prophets to speak lies.’

“‘You will succeed,’ said the Lord. ‘Go ahead and do it.’

“Always think carefully before pronouncing judgment. Remember that you do not judge to please people but to please the Lord.

He prayed, “O Lord, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you! 

But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!”

At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves. 23The armies of Moab and Ammon turned against their allies from Mount Seir and killed every one of them. After they had destroyed the army of Seir, they began attacking each other. 24So when the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as far as they could see. Not a single one of the enemy had escaped.

Lord God my Father,

Give me discerning spirit that only listens to you and courage to only speak your desire. I want to only live for your purpose and succeed in your plan. You are the only way that leads to Peace. Help me to release control of my life to your cares and allow your army to fight for me. Your Praise is the delight of my heart.

Because you have spared the man I said must be destroyed,20:42 The Hebrew term used here refers to the complete consecration of things or people to the Lord, either by destroying them or by giving them as an offering. now you must die in his place,

 “I have come because you have sold yourself to what is evil in the Lord’s sight.

“Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has done this, I will not do what I promised during his lifetime.

Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the Lord says.”

“There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me!

Jehoshaphat replied, “That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”

Lord God my Father,

Help me to be obedient in my stillness and not overthink your plan. Give me discernment in my thoughts so only your desire is in me. Keep me humble and confident in your way and to seek your desire before I form mine. Help me to represent you well.

So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. 16There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.

O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.”

And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The Lord—he is God! Yes, the Lord is God!”

Then the Lord gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt18:46 Hebrew He bound up his loins. and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.

 “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”

And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.

Lord God my Father,

I trust in your plan, now help me to remove any conditions in my trust. You have become obvious in your way, give me strength and focus to represent you well. Open our eyes to see your power and bring us back to your altar to worship only you. Lord God, we are tired but this is our strength, lift us with your strength and help us to be still so we can hear your gentle voice.

“Because you have put your trust in the king of Aram instead of in the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram. 

The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.

He followed the example of Jeroboam in all the sins he had committed and led Israel to commit.

First Ahab built a temple and an altar for Baal in Samaria. 33Then he set up an Asherah pole. He did more to provoke the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, than any of the other kings of Israel before him.

Yet even with the severity of his disease, he did not seek the Lord’s help but turned only to his physicians.

Lord God my Father,

I trust you, show me how to not be distracted, I wish to only worship you but I struggle to keep my focus on you. Keep me from my sin nature and help my hands only build for your Glory and seek you and trust you wholeheartedly.
