David had just been saying, “A lot of good it did to help this fellow. We protected his flocks in the wilderness, and nothing he owned was lost or stolen. But he has repaid me evil for good. 22May God strike me and kill me25:22 As in Greek version; Hebrew reads May God strike and kill the enemies of David. if even one man of his household is still alive tomorrow morning!”

“Even when you are chased by those who seek to kill you, your life is safe in the care of the Lord your God, secure in his treasure pouch! But the lives of your enemies will disappear like stones shot from a sling!

David replied to Abigail, “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who has sent you to meet me today! 33Thank God for your good sense! 

he Lord forbid that I should kill the one he has anointed! But take his spear and that jug of water beside his head, and then let’s get out of here!”

Now may the Lord value my life, even as I have valued yours today. May he rescue me from all my troubles.”

Lord God my Father,

Be with me and help me to keep my emotions in check so your will can have its way. Protect me from sin and plan my path so I may find you. Allow me to see your wisdom in others and keep me in check. Allow your plan to rest on me with your Truth as my discernment.

For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.

Let the godly strike me! It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it.

Hear my cry, for I am very low. Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

Lord God my Father,

You are my protector and strength, keep me close and allow me to see the attack early. When I stray, correct me as you will and fight for me and for your glory.

But David’s men said, “We’re afraid even here in Judah. We certainly don’t want to go to Keilah to fight the whole Philistine army!”4So David asked the Lord again, and again the Lord replied, “Go down to Keilah, for I will help you conquer the Philistines.”

Jonathan went to find David and encouraged him to stay strong in his faith in God. 17“Don’t be afraid,” Jonathan reassured him. “My father will never find you! You are going to be the king of Israel, and I will be next to you, as my father, Saul, is well aware.”

The wicked conceive evil;they are pregnant with troubleand give birth to lies.15They dig a deep pit to trap others,then fall into it themselves.16The trouble they make for others backfires on them.The violence they plan falls on their own heads.

The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.

Love the Lord, all you godly ones!For the Lord protects those who are loyal to him,but he harshly punishes the arrogant.24So be strong and courageous,all you who put your hope in the Lord!

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.He freed me from all my fears.5Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

Lord God my Father,

Help me to consult with you, to help me make decisions on what I should do and give me courage to follow you answer. Encourage me and get me out of my sinful way, protect me from those who hate you. May we delight together all day.

David continued to succeed in everything he did, for the Lord was with him. 

Rescue me from my enemies, O God.Protect me from those who have come to destroy me.

But as for me, I will sing about your power.Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.For you have been my refuge,a place of safety when I am in distress.

Lord God my Father,

Give me your blessing, allow me to serve you with all my heart. Protect me from my enemy so all my focus is on you.

Saul replied, “I saw my men scattering from me, and you didn’t arrive when you said you would, and the Philistines are at Micmash ready for battle. 12So I said, ‘The Philistines are ready to march against us at Gilgal, and I haven’t even asked for the Lord’s help!’ So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering myself before you came.”“How foolish!” Samuel exclaimed. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you. 

“Do what you think is best,” the armor bearer replied. “I’m with you completely, whatever you decide.”

Then Saul and all his men rushed out to the battle and found the Philistines killing each other. There was terrible confusion everywhere.

Lord God my Father,

Keep my heart from taking control when I don’t understand you plan, give me a faith that is obedient without question and direct me in today’s actions .

As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel’s signs were fulfilled that day.

But Saul replied, “No one will be executed today, for today the Lord has rescued Israel!”

“Now if you fear and worship the Lord and listen to his voice, and if you do not rebel against the Lord’s commands, then both you and your king will show that you recognize the Lord as your God. 15But if you rebel against the Lord’s commands and refuse to listen to him, then his hand will be as heavy upon you as it was upon your ancestors.

Lord God my Father,

Give me the heart you designed for me and remove the heart I decided to carry. Allow you power to rest on me and give me confidence to do you will in all areas of my life.

 They destroyed only what was worthless or of poor quality.

And the Lord sent you on a mission and told you, ‘Go and completely destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, until they are all dead.’ 19Why haven’t you obeyed the Lord? Why did you rush for the plunder and do what was evil in the Lord’s sight?”

“What is more pleasing to the Lord:your burnt offerings and sacrificesor your obedience to his voice?

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! 

 “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Lord God my Father,

Keep greed from my heart and make me obedient to your will without compromise. Show me how to allow you to fight my battles.

In Jesus name I pray,

But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord.

 Eli said, “go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.”

Oh, thank you, sir!” she exclaimed. Then she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad.

“We can’t keep the Ark of the God of Israel here any longer! He is against us! We will all be destroyed along with Dagon, our god.”

So the Israelites got rid of their images of Baal and Ashtoreth and worshiped only the Lord.

Lord God my Father,

You are my Peace and purpose, may I hear and follow your desire. Keep me from rethinking your plan as you place it on me so I may do your will without filtering it thru me.

“He will protect his faithful ones,but the wicked will disappear in darkness.No one will succeed by strength alone.10Those who fight against the Lord will be shattered.He thunders against them from heaven;the Lord judges throughout the earth.He gives power to his king;he increases the strength2:10 Hebrew he exalts the horn. of his anointed one.”

 But I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me.

Lord God my Father,

Keep me close and protect me from falling, forgive me of my past weakness and keep me strong in your desire for me. I wish to honor you and do your will while I am here.

 “But I also know about everything you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband.

 “Where did you work? May the Lord bless the one who helped you!”

“The Lord bless you, my daughter!” Boaz exclaimed. “You are showing even more family loyalty now than you did before, for you have not gone after a younger man, whether rich or poor. 

For he is the son of your daughter-in-law who loves you and has been better to you than seven sons!”

Lord God my Father,

Restore my heart to how you desire it, allow your Love and compassion to direct me in all my thoughts so you can have your way with me today.
