They went off to the city and found everything just as Jesus had said,

Then they began to argue among themselves about who would be the greatest among them. 

“Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.”

“Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.”

But this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns.”

At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. 

Lord God my Father,

May I only follow your plan without including my desire other than to follow you. Place my heart in your care and allow my trust to be whole in you. Protect me from the tempter while I am in this world. I want to please you only.

In Jesus name I pray,
