King Jotham became powerful because he was careful to live in obedience to the Lord his God.

After the Lord has used the king of Assyria to accomplish his purposes on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, he will turn against the king of Assyria and punish him—for he is proud and arrogant.

Lord God my Father,

Open my eyes to your way to the point I am only in your will. Protect me from the great deceiver and allow me to live in your Truth alone.

In Jesus name I pray,

What sorrow for those who saythat evil is good and good is evil,that dark is light and light is dark,that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.21What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyesand think themselves so clever.

Unless your faith is firm,I cannot make you stand firm.”

The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. 

Lord God my Father,

I am an idiot on my own, be with me, guide me this day so I may shine of your light. Protect my thoughts and actions, separate me from the dark ways of this world.

In Jesus name I pray,

If you will only obey me,you will have plenty to eat.

I will melt you down and skim off your slag.I will remove all your impurities.26Then I will give you good judges againand wise counselors like you used to have.

Lord God my Father,

I want to obey you wholeheartedly, I want to honor you in all things but I struggle, I struggle to surrender everything. Surrendering the big stuff is easy, expose to me the areas I wrestle for control in my life and give me strength to overcome them.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but not wholeheartedly.

Lord God my Father,

Open my eyes and heart so I may only desire you and your path for me.

So the priests agreed not to accept any more money from the people, and they also agreed to let others take responsibility for repairing the Temple.

Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, “This is what God says: Why do you disobey the Lord’s commands and keep yourselves from prospering? You have abandoned the Lord, and now he has abandoned you!”

Lord God my Father,

May I get my life in line with your plan, may I obey your order for my life.

Nonetheless the Lord said to Jehu, “You have done well in following my instructions to destroy the family of Ahab

Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people that they would be the Lord’s people.

Lord God my Father,

Even thou I am not perfect in your eyes and do not follow you wholeheartedly, that is what I wish. You love me as I am but I wish to be so much more than what I decided to be, I wish to be what you made me to be.

“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

Tell me some stories about the great things Elisha has done.” 5And Gehazi was telling the king about the time Elisha had brought a boy back to life. At that very moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house and land.

Lord God my Father,

Open my eyes to see your glory around me in the darkness, give the the faith needed to stay in your delight during difficult times. Allow me to lead others to you thru my walk and fill me with your stories to inspire.

When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.”And Elisha replied, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.”

But this is only a simple thing for the Lord, for he will make you victorious over the army of Moab! 19You will conquer the best of their towns, even the fortified ones.

When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.”

“Yes,” the woman told Gehazi, “everything is fine.”

Lord God my Father,

May I be your servant and follow your commands. May I allow you to have your way in my so called struggles and join you in battle for your honor. Give me a trust in you that releases your power above my own desires and trust that everything is fine.
